I’m Heather and I am a newborn baby photographer in Leeds, Bradford. I specialise in the photography of newborns, toddlers and children – I love to capture your little one’s first photographs, and as they grow, create a beautiful memory of your baby’s first years.  “I’ve turned my passion for photography into the best job in the world”.

Making a decision to specialise was easy

I’ve taken all genres of photos over the years, then about 10 years ago I went on a course for Newborns and just fell in love with it  – and that’s when I decided to specialise. At the time I was a full time Bank Manager, taking photos on a weekend.  Then in 2014 the opportunity to leave a 35 year career and I jumped at it. How could I not?  I get to cuddle newborns, change them and feed them and then hand them back at the end of the day – Surely you would agree newborn photography is the best job in the world! 

From Maternity onwards…

I’d love to start my journey with you  – from maternity session to baby to sitters and beyond. So, why not book me after your 20 weeks scan for your maternity session and let’s start this journey together. 

Newborns have a very small window of opportunity for their images to be taken if you are looking for those sleepy curled up images you see. As a newborn baby stays in the foetal position for a very short time, it is the first 14 days that is the ideal window to captures baby. Ideally between 5 and 14 days.  Although these dates are preferable for the squishy images you see it’s not always practical, Mum may not be feeling too well, baby needs more care. Don’t worry I will still take newborn babies until they are around 10 weeks. Just please be aware that the sleepy curled up poses are not always possible with older babies as they have filled out and more alert. Your baby maybe premature, we therefore, might have to change the timings, but that’s not a problem. But, if your little one can sit unaided why not look at a sitter session.

So a little bit about me 

Married to John for over 35 years; We have two daughters, Lauren and Beth. Both of whom have moved out so we have the empty nest syndrome in our house right now. My love of photography started when I had my daughters, and at the time, the difficulty it was to find a baby photographer. Now many years later, I pride myself of having been trained by the best and now specialises in photographing newborns, toddlers, maternity and children. I want to give you those memories and images that I couldn’t get for my girls.  

Over the years, I have been mentored by some of the Country’s top Baby and Lighting photographers, and still continue to go on courses every year to keep up-to-date with safety and new techniques and trends within the industry. Although not having any qualifications in Photography, it’s doesn’t hinder your dreams, because if you work hard, and I have the Awards to prove it, I’ve even been in the final of the Photographer of the Year.   

My studio is based in Cleckheaton, close to Leeds Bradford and covers West Yorkshire, and I look forward to welcoming you to my Studio soon!
